Image Analyzer

Image analyzer is the brain of mo dern microscopy system. Besides performing the routine jobs of processing and analysing the microscopy image, it plays the central control role to coordinate all the ongoing operations - camera capturing, stage scanning, lighting intensity, lens change, auto focusing, object segmentation etc. Moreoever, the image analyzer needs to ensure the analysis algorithms conform to the test/examination set by standard bodies (ASTM/ISO etc).

CCD vs CMOS sensors

Optical microscope (OM) uses photon (light), has a resolution limit of 200 nm (max around 1000x-2000x), offers quick and easy observation even on living specimen with colour information.
Electron microscope (EM) manages to observe in mega magnification and sub-nano resolution. However, the process is slower and costlier due to the destructive preparation. Higher depth of field image can be achieved using its electron beam though only rendered in greyscale.
